The answer is actually in the error message:
Directory not specified - using default /usr/sh
are/rpiboot/mass-storage-gadget64/
(I've added the dash to make it clearer)

You need to specify a non-default directory using the -d option, e.g.:

./rpiboot -d mass-storage-gadget64
(check the path - it's something like that)
