That's darn simple: just leave it empty!

Use the CM5IO, connect monitor, keyboard+mouse, NVMe SSD and LAN(!). Hold down shift key on your keyboard while powering up. That will (hopefully) start network install process. Now select the NVMe for installing the OS to.
WARNING: will not work if there are issues with the NVMe! Not all drives might be compatible. CM5IO accepts M.2 NVMe drives only (M-key) --> don't try to use a SATA (only) drive!

NOTE: NETWORK INSTALL was disabled on CM4, you may have to enable it for CM5 first as well (sorry, don't own a CM5!) by updating your BOOT EEPROM.

As said, don't own a CM5 myself so can't check if viewtopic.php?p=2133683&hilit=Eeprom#p2133695 is still valid (but would expect it is; if not see https://github.com/raspberrypi/usbboot).

Note2: Not found any official reseller in Germany having stock of other version than CM5104032. As that one goes into https://www.raspberrypi.com/products/cm5-dev-kit/ it makes me assume that it is the first version sold to non-industrial customers. Well, there is also no reseller having stock of the official 512GB NVMe; is that already available?
