Less memory does reduce what can be done with a Pi. For many people daily driver means no hardware tinkering nor software development. If this is the case, I'm not sure what's wrong with the laptop you already have. Does the laptop need replacing?but wouldn't that affect performance as a daily driver? how big is the impact?
If the problem is Windows 11 compatibility, maybe try Linux on the laptop.
